By Gordan E. Graham This is about a vision I had some years ago. When I got saved and filled with the Holy Ghost I prayed, "Lord make yourself real to me". Let me give you some background before I go any farther. When I was a child the only time I went to church was when my parents took me on Easter or during the summer they would send me to bible school.
While attending bible school and the occasional sunday service I knew nothing about Christ. The only Christ I knew was the baby Jesus that was taught tous in class. I never knew the power, love or glory of God. I didn't know that all things, and I mean everything, was made by Him, John 1.3.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.
I didn't know all power was giving unto Him,
Matt 28.18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Why is it we can't teach children the power of God, the point is children loved Him, after He was grown they came to him. Mark 10.13 Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.It was not what He did when He was a child that set me free. He walked the shores of Galilee and He healed the people and He raised the dead, but the most important thing He ever did, was the sacrifice He made on Calvary's Hill.
When I think of what Paul said in 1 Cor. 2.2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.I would like to point out the world will never know Christ by the wisdom of men. In hillbilly words, we will never know him by natural means. Men's wisdom will never prove Christ, He has to be found in faith.
1 Cor 1.20-21
20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.
Right there it is, the world knew not God, they will never find God by the wisdom or (natural mind). We know that Paul was forever changed, when on his way to Damascus. Jesus meet him there and the impact that it made on his life lasted him the rest of his life.
Acts 9.1-5
1 And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest, 2 And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem. 3 And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: 4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? 5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.As you can see, a great and might thing happened to Saul, and Jesus later renamed him Paul. A vision will change you, you will not be the same after the experience.
The vision
I arrived at church that night not knowing what was about to happen to me. I had no idea of the miracle and the change that was about to happen to me About 30 minutes into the service.
I was playing my guitar and had just finished singing a couple of songs when I turned and went to sit down behind the pulpit. Someone else came forward to sing and I remember looking down at the floor and that is the last thing knew.I remember traveling at a great speed but was not aware of anything around me. In an instant I was in the presence of The Lord Jesus Christ. I saw standing on the right, six men and six men on my left. I did not know these men and had no discernment of who they were. I looked down and slowly I raising my head I saw his feet first, and then the rest of Him. Standing straight in front of me, about 12 feet away was the Lord of Glory. He had dark brown hair and a beard, and was wearing a robe of white, I could not look at His face but in great humility my eyes immediately went to His nailed scrared hands.
Without a word spoken He held out His hands and I ran and fell down before him and bowed my head down at His feet. I knew right then I was not worthy to touch Him.
I said. "Oh God, I am not worthy to touch you".
He reached down and with His hands He lifted me up to my feet with ease, and there I was standing before Him. He wrapped His arms around me and held me tight against himself. He spoke some words into my ear that I have decided to keep to myself. I cannot tell you the way I felt, it is beyond human comprehension. In this fleshy body there are no word that can describe what I felt or what He means to me.
Again, I was traveling at a great speed and upon opening my eyes and I was playing the guitar again. I do not know how long the vision lasted but when I came back someone was just finishing a song. I laid the guitar down and remained siting behind the pulpit.
My pastor, Ken Thacker, stepped up to the pulpit and opened His bible. My mind was racing, trying to understand what had just happened to me. I had never had a vision before and didn't know what to make of it. I said in my spirit, "Lord if that was you help me to understand". I had my elbows resting on my knees and my head in my hands when I noticed the Spirit of God moving on brother Ken.
He also gave the interpretation of what the Spirit of God said and the only thing I can remember of the message was the last four words He spoke. "I am your vision". There is no way in this world, He or anyone else could have known what I had just experienced, not five minutes earlier.
As long as I have gone to that church I have never heard brother Ken speak in tongues while preaching his message.Later in life as you go through dry spells and you don't feel the Lord. It is called walking by faith. In those times we need the visions and dreams to help us.
The bible says, without a vision my people parish. Proverbs 29,18Seek God for your vision, for He will reveal Himself to those whom He loves. Are lives are so full of junk we never take the time to seek God until we are on our death bed.
I know what happened to me and if you don't believe, then maybe that is what is wrong with you and your relationship with Christ, the reason you have not received what Christ has for you. Jesus will show himself to you, if you will only believe.Believe in Christ today, for He is your only hope in this world of trouble.
I have heard some say they tried God but they never felt anything, the problem is they never received, because they never gave there whole heart. We must give Him our whole heart if we want to grow in His Kingdom. If you do not know the Lord as your personal Savior then pray this prayer with me.
Oh God I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sin and come into my life and be my Savior. I give you my whole heart and ask you to use me anyway you see fit. In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen. Now you are a child of the King, and you have all the promises that are in His Word. Claim them in the Name of Jesus. Now you have eternal life through Christ who paid the supreme sacrifice on the Cross.
